It’s been a while since I last posted here. Well, Ive been busy with lots of things such as studies(o.O)/projects/exams, ‘fiesta’ , personal life, seo, facebook? and many more hehe. ^^, Now that I have this little time, I’m going to share this one simple text effect that i love in photoshop.

Just click ‘Read more’ to see the step by step procedures. Note: click on the images to see the full preview.

First make a new canvass with a size of your choice (in this tutorial I made a 640×480 canvass with black as background color). Then type the text you want to be glossy.

Open the text layer’s style window and copy the following settings.

Now, select the Pen Tool from the Tools Palette and make a path similar to the path on the image below.

Close the path and right click on it then choose Make Selection.

Make a new layer and select the Gradient Tool. Make a White to Transparent gradient then fill the selection. (White on top and going transparent downward.)

CTRL+click on the text layer while the new layer was chosen. Invert the selection by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+I or by going to Select -> Invert. Then press Delete.

Now Deselect the selection by pressing CTRL+D or by going to Select -> Deselect. And it’s all done! Your masterpiece should look like this.

Star-Sky Effect Tutorial

This is one of the firsts techniques I’ve learned while exploring Adobe Photoshop. Some of them I learned from my ever helpful friend, Google! Tonights technique is called Star-Sky Effect.

As we go on with the steps, you’ll be amazed of what Adobe Photoshop and yourself can do. ^^, Now let’s start.

Start by choosing a dark blue color as your foreground color and black as your background. Refer to the image below.

Next, from your Menu Bar choose Filter -> Render -> Clouds. And you will have something like the image below:

Now, create a new layer and fill it with black. Choose black as your foreground and white as background as you’ve seen below.

Again, on your Menu Bar choose Filter -> Noise -> Add Noise. And follow the settings below.

Now that’s too many stars, we can lessen it by selecting Image -> Adjustments -> Levels and follow the values below.

Lastly, change the Blending Options of the Noise-added Layer to ‘Screen’ to remove the black part. Voila! You now have a Star-sky-like effect.

Here, You can add some texts and lens flare to add more excitement on your graphics like this one.

Rounded Corners Css Tutorial

While exploring the vast web (which I usually do ) and searching for a nice css trick, I discovered the new options for borders W3C has offered. This is called the border-radius. It can make your borders go round hehe

This is a good alternative if you are not fond of using background images in making round corners (like me! haha). This border property only works on new versions of Mozilla Firefox, Safari 3 and Google Chrome but not in IE (as usual arghhh ).

Here’s an example:

Brightness Adjustment Tutorial

Good Evening readers! While i was thinking of a good entry to post here, my ate suddenly came and taught me a very nice technique on adjusting the brightness of your pictures (underexpose pictures). I just thought that it would be great if I share it here.

This technique is an alternative way instead of using Image -> Adjustments -> Brightness/Contrast. This is recommended if you are not skilled on mixing the values for the Brightness and Contrast.

Since she is the one who taught me this technique, I’ll be using her picture as an example.

First open your selected image on Adobe Photoshop by clicking on File -> Open
I chose a dim picture of my sister to emphasize this technique.

Then, duplicate the image by pressing Ctrl+J or by simply right clicking on the layer and select Duplicate Layer

Next, select the Layer Copy and choose Screen from the Blending Options. (This one will do the trick.)

You can adjust the opacity of the Layer Copy until you get your desired result.

Here is the finished product. Try it too, see the magic, and you will be amazed by what you have done. ^^,

Reflection Tutorial

Good evening, tonight I’ll be going to share to you the very first technique I’ve learn as I was exploring Adobe Photoshop. Text Reflection is very simple. You can do it in split seconds (naaahhh just exaggerating hehehe ). The one that I’ll be teaching now is only one of the many techniques in making reflections using Adobe Photoshop.

This technique is only applicable with single-colored background. Soon, I’ll post the more advanced (applicable to any background) technique of making reflections. For now, let’s start with this simple reflection tutorial.

Step 1: First off, I have created a new document and just type Eljon as my reflecting text.
Step 2: Duplicate the text layer. You can do that by simply pressing Ctrl+J or by going to Layer -> Duplicate Layer.
Step 3: Select the duplicated layer and flip it vertically. You can do this by pressing Ctrl+T or by going to Edit -> Free Transform. Then, drag the duplicate layer below the original one.
Step 4: Create a new layer by simply pressing Shift+Ctrl+N or by going to Layer -> New… -> Layer.
Step 5: Click on the new layer, choose the Rectangular Marquee Tool and select the inverted text.
Step 6: Now pick the Gradient Tool and make a gradient ‘white to white’ with one side having 0 opacity.
Step 7: Draw the gradient from the bottom of the selection and then drag it upward. Just reduce the opacity of the duplicated layer until you get your desired result.

You can also make some free transform to the duplicated layer for some nifty effects like this:
